KauKan is a Wonaruah word meaning ‘one who is able’.
We have candidates who are both willing and able to work now, ready for their opportunity.

We work to ensure committed job seekers and employers have the ability and support they need to sustain meaningful employment for Indigenous people. Our program ensures Indigenous people have the attributes and skills needed to actively compete for opportunities and enjoy sustainable employment.

As an employer, if you answer YES to any of the below questions – you need to meet with Youth Express:

  • You need trained staff, who will grow with your business?
  • You want to beat your competitors on tenders and govt. contracts?
  • You want wage subsidies of up to $10,000 per annum?
  • You want the benefits of a Reconciliation Action Plan?
  • You need help developing an Indigenous Employment Strategy?
  • You and your staff want cultural awareness training and mentoring?

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people represent 5.9% of the population in our footprint area, yet they are currently over-represented in terms of unemployment; with 41% of Indigenous residents not participating in the labour force.

Indigenous unemployment rates are almost three times the state average.
